Renaissance costumes for Commoners
Men of the Renaissance Age usually wore a shirt with a vest, pants tucked into their boots, and a hat to "top" it off. Women wore the layered look of an over and under skirt and a shirt covered by a bodice. Both high boots and sandals were appropriate. A tavern lady could wear a white dress with a velvet overlay or perhaps a long skirt with an off-the-shoulder blouse and a wide, black-tied belt at the waist. They generally braided their long hair and curls were a sign of beauty. Check into the hairpieces ladies!
