Accessorizing a knight costume with weapons

Every medieval knight needs not only a suit of armor, but appropriate accessories. First you need to assess your choice of shields - in most cases; you should go for a larger shield rather than those that are smaller and round. The larger shields are more period correct. You don't want to be a medieval knight with a Roman shield! Next you need weaponry. You'll probably want a sword, preferably one that comes with a sheath that is wearable. You may also be able to fashion your own sword belt if you are handy with knots or a sewing machine. If you don't feel like you are a sword toting knight, consider some other costume weaponry like an axe, mace (metal club), or war hammer.
