Join the Dark Side with a Homemade Star Wars Storm Trooper Costume

Star Wars Storm Trooper Costume Materials
- Black sweatsuit
- Cardboard
- Heavy duty aluminum foil
- White and black spray paint
- Serrated knife
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Pencil and paper
- Adhesive backed Velcro tabs
- White gloves
- Measuring tape

Create a Homemade Storm Trooper Halloween Costume
Use a measuring tape to measure the diameter and length of your forearms, upper
arms, thighs and shins. Add 3-4 inches to the width of each item and write down
each measurement. Next, measure the width and height of your torso and record
the results using the pencil and paper.
Draw rectangular shapes, according to these measurements, onto a piece of cardboard.
Using sharp scissors or a utility knife, cut out the cardboard shapes. For the
pieces corresponding to the forearms, upper arms, thighs and shins, fashion
the cutouts into a tubular shape by wrapping the cardboard around itself and
allowing for small overlap. Use duct tape to secure the tubes.
Place heavy-duty aluminum foil over each piece of cardboard armor in order
to create a smooth look. Place the pieces of armor on newspaper and spay paint
them to create a metallic white finish, allowing at least two hours for each
piece to dry.
Once the paint is dry, apply four Velcro tabs to the inside of each piece of
armor. Place the other side of each Velcro tab to the corresponding locations
on the black sweatshirt and sweatpants by peeling off the self-adhesive on the
Velcro and attaching the tabs to the clothes.
Wear the sweatpants and sweatshirt first. Then, pull on each piece of armor,
securing them with the Velcro tabs. Finish the costume by putting on the
white gloves. Finish with an authentic Storm Trooper helmet to give the look
a classic Star Wars feel.
